The CEO’s Hidden Love Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires

Chapter 1737

"What are you even talking about? Felicity is my daughter. She's not your wife yet!" Karen laughed, waving him off. "Go do your thing, Miles. I've got Felicity covered here, don't worry."

“Alright. But if anything comes up, call me right away, okay?"

"Of course!"

If Karen hadn't known better, she'd think Felicity was Miles's daughter, not hers,

the way he fussed. Still, it was strangely comforting.

Leaving Felicity in Langston's hands was definitely the right call.

...

Miles didn't go to the hospital. Instead, he drove straight to the funeral home.

He found Aurora in the lobby.

"Hey, Abigail. How's Craig holding up?"

The dead were gone. Now, it was all about the living.

Aurora shook her head, eyes cast down. "He... looks fine on the outside, but I can tell he's really hurting."

Guys like Craig, they never knew how to talk about their feelings. Keep it bottled up long enough, and it's a recipe for depression.noveldrama

But then again..... learning to talk about your emotions isn't something someone can just teach you.

"Where is he right now?" Miles asked.

"There's some paperwork he had to sign. They just called him back."

Miles gave his sister's shoulder a squeeze. "Don't stress too much, okay? Once things settle down, I'll have a one-on-one with Craig. Tell him he doesn't have to carry everything alone. Besides, Craig's mom had been sick for a while. He must've known this was coming, but still... it's hard to face when it actually happens."

Aurora nodded, glancing at Langston. "Bro... seeing Craig like this, I can't help but wonder what about when it's our parents' turn..."

Everyone has to face it someday. But for Abigail and Langston, the thought was almost unbearable.

She felt Craig's pain even more because of it.

Miles sighed. "Don't go there right now. Let's just focus on being there for Craig, okay?"

"Yeah."

"I'm gonna see if there's anything I can help with. Oh, and Mom and Dad wanted

to know when the funeral is. They're planning to come too."

Everett and Dorothy hadn't shown up yet-they were at home with Elijah.

They figured, as long as the kid was looked after, their daughter could be here for Craig. Besides, if the parents showed up now, it'd probably just make things harder for him he'd feel like he had to play host on top of everything else.

"Alright."

Craig hadn't brought his assistant or his secretary. He was handling everything at the funeral home himself-signing papers, paying fees, running around.

His mom had only started living comfortably in the last couple of years. She'd

finally stopped worrying about money. And now... it just wasn't fair.

As her only son, Craig wanted to see her off himself. He wasn't doing it for praise or to prove what a great son he was; he just needed to find some peace in his own heart.

“Hey, Craig. Anything I can do to help?" Miles called out as soon as he spotted him.

Craig saw his brother-in-law and shook his head. "I've got it."

"Look, just because you're a guy doesn't mean you have to do it al alone. You and Abigail might be divorced, but Elijah's still here. We're still family.”

Miles was still mad at Craig for breaking his sister's heart. But he knew Craig hadn't meant to hurt anyone-he'd made his own mistakes before.

Craig didn't answer right away. He just looked at Miles for a long moment, then finally spoke.

"Man, I want to get back together with Aurora."
