Chapter 379 Prying Open the Car Door
The underground garage was dimly lit and quiet, with hardly anyone in sight. Michael and Andrew navigated through the space and quickly found Isabella's car. Michael had already gathered some information earlier. Isabella had been in an accident while driving, but the details of how she was attacked were unclear.
Michael couldn't understand it. If Isabella had been driving normally, how could someone have opened the door to attack her? Clearly, she must have stopped for some reason.
The insurance company told him that the car had no external damage, which explained everything.
That's why Michael decided to bring Andrew to the garage.
They needed to investigate before anyone else caught on.
"This is the car. The keys should have been given back to Emily," Michael said, surveying the exterior of Isabella's car.
There were no scratches, which was why the insurance company had returned it in perfect condition.noveldrama
"Yeah, Mr. Smith. So how do we open the car?" Andrew asked.
"Should I ask Mrs. Smith for the keys first..."
Before Andrew could finish, Michael frowned and looked at him with displeasure.
Andrew, frightened, quickly lowered his head, trying to figure out what he had said wrong.
"She's heartbroken right now, completely irrational. She wouldn't want to see... us," Michael hesitated as he spoke.
But he knew that Emily would rather not see him than Andrew.
In Emily's eyes, Michael was the source of all her misfortune.
Thinking about this made Michael's throat dry and his eyes sting.
He felt innocent but had no way to explain himself.
After all, this was his punishment for hurting Emily in the past.
No matter how Emily treated him, he deserved it. He had no right to argue. "Find a way to pry the door open."
Just as the tension was thickening, Michael said something that surprised Andrew. "What?" Andrew was stunned, watching as Michael walked to the driver's side door.
Michael had some knowledge about cars. Seeing Isabella's car, he frowned and spoke easily.
"This lock is easy to pick. Find a way to open it. I need to make a call."
With that order, Michael turned and walked away, pulling out his phone. Andrew, seeing this, sighed and got to work.
Prying open someone's car door was highly inappropriate and could get him arrested, but this was Isabella's car.
Andrew thought, if he got into trouble... Michael would probably help him out, right?

'Oh well! Better to do it now than risk losing my salary and bonuses later!' he thought to himself.
Andrew had suffered enough and didn't want to repeat his mistakes.
So, he studied the lock mechanism and quickly used the tools he had prepared to open the driver's side door.
Before working as Michael's assistant, Andrew had experience with cars.
This was why Michael had chosen him as his special assistant.
One making a call, the other picking a lock-they made quite a commotion. Soon, the
garage security guard arrived, shouting at the two well-dressed men.
"What are you doing? I've never seen this before! Thieves dressed so formally? Is this your professional attitude? Who told you to mess with someone else's car? Don't move! You're coming with me to the police station!"
The guard reached out to grab Michael, but Andrew quickly intervened.
Michael had a classic CEO's aversion to being touched.
Except for Emily and Andrew, he didn't like anyone touching him, not even family, certainly not a hospital security guard.
Seeing the guard about to touch Michael, Michael frowned deeply, glaring at the guard.
Finally, as Andrew struggled to hold the guard back, Michael spoke, "I'm Michael Smith, CEO of Smith Corporation. If you don't believe me, look me up online."
"I know causing this commotion is impolite. I'll try to be quieter. But my mother-in-law had an accident and is bedridden. As family, I need to find out what happened. Please understand." Michael's imposing presence was intimidating.
The guard was speechless, and even Andrew looked shocked.

Michael, the CEO of Smith Corporation, had never spoken so politely to anyone! Though there was a hint of threat in his tone, his politeness was palpable.
"Did you check?" Michael's words carried weight.
The guard quickly pulled out his phone. When Michael's photo appeared, he fell silent.
After all, the CEO of Smith Corporation had no reason to steal a car in a hospital garage!
It had to be a misunderstanding!
"Well, get going then! What are you waiting for?"
"Okay, okay, I'll leave now. Mr. Smith, take your time picking... I mean, go ahead. I won't disturb you."
Andrew hurried the guard away. The guard, understanding, bowed to Michael and quickly left.
Though the guard didn't understand why Michael was prying open his mother-in-law's car door, he figured the CEO must have forgotten the keys or was in a bad mood.
Rich people had their own rules. He just needed to guard the entrance.
With the guard gone, the garage fell silent.
Michael sighed, his expression darkening.
Andrew, unsure what Michael was waiting for or thinking about, hesitantly reminded him. "Mr. Smith, the lock is open."
"Good. I've asked our company to send a computer as quickly as possible. Retrieve the dashcam footage. I want to see who has the nerve to target someone close to me."
What do you think?
