The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 374 A Twist of Fate

"Alright, I'm heading out. Thanks a lot for your help. If I make a decision... I'll get in touch, Mr. Bales." Isabella said goodbye to Daron and decided to head home.

At the very least, she felt she should have a good talk with Emily about all this.

Starting the car, Isabella prepared to leave. The hitman wanted to follow her but hesitated, afraid he might have the wrong person. After some indecision, he decided to follow her anyway.

At the very least, he could find out where this person, who might be Vanessa, lived.

It would make things easier to track her down later.

But Roger's henchman never expected to follow her to an unfamiliar estate, where he spotted Emily's recently repaired car.

How could he not recognize Emily's car?

The events of yesterday were still fresh in his mind. Roger's henchman clearly remembered how Michael had given him a thorough beating. So seeing Emily's car now made him a bit nervous.

He didn't expect to run into her again so soon.

And this person, who was supposed to be Vanessa, seemed to have some connection to Emily.

Just as Roger's henchman was getting curious, the gate of the estate opened. He quickly hid in the shadows and watched as Emily ran out, calling "Mom" to the person getting out of the car.

How could there be such a coincidence in this world?

Could Roger's sister really be Emily's mom?

So Emily might be Roger's niece?

Roger's henchman found it hard to believe.

But as someone sent by Roger to eliminate Vanessa, he wasn't too surprised by the scene. After all, in these wealthy families, mutual destruction for money, power, and fame was common.

He slowly disappeared into the shadows.

Meanwhile, Emily and Isabella didn't notice anything unusual.

One was concerned about the other's bad mood, and the other was genuinely feeling down. They were ready to head inside and discuss everything slowly.

"Mom, what's wrong? Are you feeling down?"

When Emily got home earlier, she saw that everything was in chaos, and Isabella was nowhere to be found. She thought something had happened and only felt relieved after making a phone call.

But Isabella seemed to be in a bad mood, which Emily could tell from her tone. Now seeing Isabella back, Emily's guess seemed to be right.

Emily quickly poured Isabella a glass of water and gently asked her what was wrong. Isabella had been thinking about how to bring up the matter with Emily, but no way seemed right. Now that Emily asked, Isabella found it even harder to speak.

Seeing Isabella's hesitant expression, Emily grew anxious.

She quickly moved closer, urgently asking Isabella, "Mom, just tell me what's on your mind. Didn't we agree to face everything together? I'll be really worried if you keep it to yourself. Your grandchild won't be happy either!"

As she spoke, Emily pointed to her belly, playfully pouting at Isabella.

Isabella couldn't resist such words, especially when they concerned her cherished grandchild.

"It's not that I don't want to tell you, I just don't know where to start. But Emily, you're right. I shouldn't keep this to myself. I should tell you. No matter what, I still have you."

"That's more like it," Emily said, smiling as she leaned against Isabella. They shared a tender moment.noveldrama

Isabella suddenly made up her mind and spoke to Emily.

"Emily, remember when I told you I'm not actually your grandparents' biological daughter?"

Emily froze, her smile fading.

"So it was true," she whispered.

"Yes, it is. Why would I joke about something like this?"

"Meeting your grandparents was my good fortune, but I'm not their child. I went to the orphanage today, and the director told me they found my biological family."

'Such a coincidence?' Emily could hardly believe it. She had heard that Leo found his long-lost daughter. And now her mother was saying she found her biological family. Though such dramatic events often happened in Emerald City, this was the first time such a coincidence occurred.

Emily couldn't help but connect the two events.

The Ward family and her mother?

What if Isabella was the Ward family's lost daughter, Vanessa?

Wouldn't that make Roger her uncle?

And she and Alice, Luna would be sisters?

Thinking about all this, Emily felt it was like a fairy tale, something that could never happen!

"Emily?"

"What?" Emily snapped out of her thoughts at Isabella's call. She turned to her mother and asked, "Mom, do you know who my biological grandparents are?"

Hearing this, Isabella's expression darkened. She was silent for a moment before replying.

"In my heart, your grandparents will always be your original grandparents."

"As for my biological parents... they're just a formality. The orphanage director didn't

tell me who they were, and I don't want to acknowledge them. After all these years of inaction, now they want me to accept them?"

Isabella couldn't help but smile bitterly, her bright eyes glistening.

"That would make me look like a pushover," she joked.

Emily also smiled bitterly, but she knew Isabella was hurting inside. After all, living most of her life, about to become a grandmother, and still not knowing who her biological parents were, was a sad thing.

But despite this, Emily respected Isabella's wishes.

What did it matter if they acknowledged them or not?

Looking at it another way, Michael's mother, Scarlett, was his most beloved mother. But sometimes, some mothers don't deserve the title.

So what was the point of acknowledging them? What was the significance?

"Mom, you're right. I support you. Grandpa and Grandma will always be my grandparents and your parents. We just need to live well and not make them worry in heaven. They will bless us with peace and happiness."

With that, Emily rested her chin on Isabella's lap again, and the mother and daughter embraced with smiles.
