Chapter 286 Chaos in the Hospital
After Landon took over the hospital case, he dove deep into investigating all the staff. Weirdly enough, Patricia was nowhere to be found, like she had just disappeared into
thin air again.
He went through the hospital records. Luna was an OB-GYN with a so-so reputation. Her skills were alright, but she had a talent for picking fights with everyone colleagues and patients alike. When she got mad, she'd snap at anyone.
So, her reputation in the hospital was pretty average, and her colleagues didn't think much of her. "Luna is Milton's only daughter, and Milton is a big shot at Stellar University. No one in the hospital dares to criticize her. Even if she messes up, the leadership won't give her a hard time."
"Luna looks down on people like us because she's the daughter of a senior expert. But she gets along well with Mr. Wilson and Mr. Faith, both Milton's students who often look out for her."
Landon's team was jotting down notes while he asked questions. "Who is she closest to?"
"That would be Mr. Faith. He's been the hospital's heartthrob for over a decade. Mr. Wilson doesn't spend much time at the hospital, so Luna often hangs out with Mr. Faith. They've even worked on several research projects together."
Landon reviewed the compiled info, which included a photo of Luna and Herbert receiving a medical research award together. Luna was all smiles, while Herbert looked serious, making it hard to tell if he liked Luna.
Landon asked, "Do you know where she lives?"noveldrama
The head nurse spoke up, "Luna rarely goes home. Ever since Milton was hospitalized, she's been staying in the on-call room. She has her own private room at the end of the hallway, second to last."
Landon had the head nurse lead him to the on-call room. The door was locked. When Landon twisted the doorknob, it broke off with a loud snap, startling the head nurse. "Sir, isn't that a bit too violent?"
Landon replied, "Sorry, it's necessary for the job."
The head nurse watched helplessly as Landon pushed the door open. As soon as he entered, he noticed a weird smell, which his sharp nose immediately found suspicious.
Landon said, "Dustin, get me some gloves!"
Dustin Mitchell, who was busy taking notes, quickly passed Landon a pair of disposable gloves. Landon began searching the room and soon found several pill bottles in the nightstand. As he pulled out the drawers, he noticed something tucked away in the gaps, tightly wrapped in clear tape.
Landon removed it and found syringes and pink powder inside. "These are illegal substances. She had the nerve to bring this into the hospital. Dustin, get the forensics team here. We need a thorough investigation."
The head nurse, freaked out by the discovery of illegal substances, quickly called the hospital director, who was already overwhelmed by the chaos Luna had caused.
Seeing the contraband firsthand, the director was at a loss.
That night, the police searched the entire obstetrics and gynecology department, even bringing in sniffer dogs to comb through the hospital. They found more contraband, including in Herbert's office, which was a major scandal for the hospital.

The director called an emergency meeting, determined to keep the news from spreading to protect the hospital's reputation. "Luna's case will be handled by the police, but our hospital also bears responsibility for oversight. The head of the obstetrics department will be dismissed. Anyone connected to Luna found guilty by the police will be fired and never rehired."
The hospital was in chaos that night. Allison woke up to a message from Henry and called him right away.
Henry said, "Allison, you slept well. I haven't closed my eyes for two days!"
Allison chuckled, "I'll go see Herbert later. After that, I'll cover your shift so you can sleep for two days, okay?"
Henry took a sip of his coffee and smiled. "Milton's condition has stabilized. Joe treated him personally last night. The poisoning damaged his nervous system, and now he's bedridden. Joe says Milton doesn't have much time left. When asked about Luna, he couldn't believe the Thompson family had been harmed so badly."
Allison sighed, finished her breakfast, and went to see Herbert at the special police unit, where she ran into Sabrina.
Sabrina said, "Allison, what a coincidence! You're here too!"
Allison raised an eyebrow, sizing up Sabrina. "I'm here on business. What about you?"

Sabrina looked a bit embarrassed. "I ran into Landon yesterday and mentioned I missed the food here. So, he brought me over this morning!"
Allison couldn't help but laugh. She'd seen people who loved trying different restaurants, but never someone who loved trying different cafeterias.
"Any news from Ryan? When is he coming back?" Allison asked.
Sabrina nodded, "Ryan said he'll be in Skycrest today and wants to see you. Also, Kismet is coming back. Allison, Xavier and the others are going to be sentenced. Will Kismet be able to handle it?"
Having lived at Serenity Manor for so long, Sabrina had grown fond of Kismet, who always cooked delicious meals. Now, with half the family detained, Kismet's return would surely stir things up.
Allison responded, "I'll be there for her once I'm done. You should also be careful. Always have someone with you when you go out. And be cautious with your food. There's still someone out there, and I'm worried they might target us."
Sabrina nodded. Landon had already informed her about the hospital situation. Despite her young age, she wasn't completely in the dark. She had even helped Landon track Patricia, who had managed to escape from three different locations, proving her experience and danger.
In the interrogation room, Allison saw Herbert, who seemed surprised to see her. "You're Joe's prized student?"
Allison sat across from him and replied, "You're Milton's first student. He invested a lot in you. You were involved in all his research projects, showing how much he valued
you."
Herbert laughed after hearing Allison. "He valued me? Do you think Milton was a good person? He was a hypocrite. I participated in every project, but I never got any credit. He took others' research and claimed it as his own. Didn't he deserve to die?"
