Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn)

Chapter 381

The spotlight streamed down from above, casting a harsh glow in the dim room. Chris stood there, eyes locked on Joshua with a gaze that could cut glass.

"Well, well, if it isn't the illustrious Joshua. What brings you to a joint like this?" he sneered, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Chris was still recovering, bandages covering his head and arms-souvenirs from the day he'd gone all in, trying to take Joshua out with him.

Ever since a mole from Joshua's camp tipped him off, Chris knew his days were numbered. Sawyer's time in office was ticking away, and the public had long since grown tired of him. The chances of Sawyer getting re-elected as Prime Minister were slim to none. With Martha set to take the reins, Chris knew she'd rally every force she could to bring him down.

Once he got the news, Chris started plotting his own death—a fake one, that is. He was planning to slip away to a far-off land and take Joshua down with him in a blaze of glory. Liam had tried to talk him into laying low and living the rest of his life under the radar.

Chris chuckled, shaking his head. "Do I look like the kind of guy to hide away?" he asked, a hint of defiance in his voice. "If Joshua wants me gone, I'll make sure he's coming with me."

Chris's rise to power had been meteoric, all thanks to having Sawyer as his backer. Over the years, Chris had been knee-deep in shady deals and illegal activities—just another day at the office for him. As the saying goes, the most profitable ventures are often the ones in the criminal code, and Chris was living proof of that.

Before Sawyer's fall from grace, Joshua's attempts to take on Chris were constantly thwarted by Sawyer's influence. No matter how powerful Joshua was in Oak Lake, challenging the American Prime Minister was a whole different ball game. The idea of hiring someone to take Sawyer out was just crazy talk...

Actually, ever since Chris came back into the fold last year, Joshua had been quietly supporting Martha's bid for power. Chris found out about this and, in a fit of rage, sent his men to try and take Joshua out in broad daylight in America.

"So, let me guess, is it Ben's condition acting up?" Chris's eyes danced with mischief, a sly grin spreading across his face.

Joshua stayed calm, his icy gaze fixed on Chris as he spoke, his voice as cold as a winter's night. "You had Lillian poison him." His tone was firm, leaving no room for doubt.

Chris raised an eyebrow, his long eyes full of mock amusement. "Oh, did I? Funny, I seem to have forgotten."

Joshua didn't rise to the bait. He slowly pulled a photo from an envelope, holding it up for Chris to see. "Remember this place?"

The grin vanished from Chris's face, replaced by a snarl. "Joshua!" he spat, fury dripping from every syllable.

Joshua stayed cool as a cucumber. "I'm right here."

"What did you do to my mother's resting place?" Chris's eyes were wild, veins popping on his forehead.

Joshua gave a slight smirk. "I thought you didn't care about anything, but it seems you've got a soft spot after all."

"Tell me! What did you do to my mother's grave?" Chris was on the brink of losing

it.

"Oh, not much. The weather was nice, so I figured your mom could use some sun." Joshua's voice was calm, almost casual. "That cemetery was so grand, I really thought she was buried there. Turns out, it was just an empty tomb."

His offhand tone made it sound like he was discussing dinner plans.

Chris erupted. He shot to his feet, lunging at Joshua, but the guards held him back with iron grips.

"Joshua! I'll kill you!" Chris roared, his eyes blazing with rage.

Joshua clapped his hands, and in walked Thomas, cradling a black urn. "Joshua," Thomas said softly.

"Hmm."

The sight of the urn sent Chris over the edge. He screamed, his eyes filled with a hatred so intense it seemed to burn.

"I'll give you one last chance,"

Joshua said, sitting back with a

casual air, one leg crossed over the

other "Tell the truth about Ben's

poisoning, and I'll keep your

mother's ashes intact."

"Joshua! I'll kill you!" Chris struggled, trying to break free and attack.

Joshua chuckled, rising leisurely before delivering a powerful kick to

Chris's gut. Chris was tough, his muscles hard as stone, but Joshua's kick was fierce, and it must've done some damage inside.

Chris fell silent, the pain evident but unvoiced.

"Made up your mind?" Joshua's patience was wearing thin.

After a moment, Chris coldly admitted, "Yeah, I had Lillian poison Ben. But she wouldn't do it unless I got rid of Allison."

Joshua's eyes narrowed, his face losing its color. So Chris had targeted Allison not just to hurt him, but as part of a twisted deal with Lillian.

Seeing Joshua's pain, Chris laughed. “Hahaha, who'd have thought? Your dear sister not only had unspeakable feelings for you but also wanted the one you loved dead. How pathetic."

Joshua lowered his eyes, emotions swirling within. After a pause, he looked up,

his voice icy enough to freeze the room. "Very well."

With a nod, he signaled Thomas. Thomas understood and smashed the urn against the ground.

"No—" Chris screamed, agony etched on his face. The urn shattered, ashes spilling everywhere.

Chris's eyes turned bloodshot, his face contorted in rage.

Joshua stood over him, cold and unyielding, finally feeling a flicker of satisfaction

at getting his revenge.

In the end, Joshua instructed Thomas to fetch a broom. Chris watched helplessly as Nancy's ashes were swept away into a dustbin.noveldrama
