Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn)

Chapter 378

Ray's gaze was intense, filled with a deep, brooding seriousness.

After a brief silence, the old man began to slowly share the key moments of the long-standing feud between Ben and Chris's families with those gathered. As police officers, they were no strangers to high society scandals.

Still, hearing Ray personally air his family's dirty laundry caught them off guard, if only for a moment. They quickly shook off their surprise, focusing on the task at hand, listening attentively, and jotting down notes when necessary.

Finally, in a somber tone, Ray stated, "I stand with Julia; I think Lillian is the prime suspect here."

The officers nodded in agreement.

Richard, with a tone of respect, assured, "We'll do everything we can to get to the bottom of this case."

Thinking about his son, who was running out of time in the hospital, Ray's eyes and voice were filled with a profound sadness and helplessness. "Thank you for your efforts. Please, find out the truth as soon as possible."

At the very least, Ben needed to know who was behind his suffering. He couldn't just leave this world with unanswered questions.

The officers nodded solemnly and said in unison, "Understood."

Joshua's voice was cold and direct as he added, "I'll have some people assist you with the investigation."

Allison had been in intensive care for three days. On the fourth day, the doctor allowed visitors. Visiting hours were kept short, from 2:30 to 3:00 in the afternoon -a precious half-hour to see her.

During the first visiting session, Joshua was eager to see Allison, but Javier was adamant about keeping him away.

Joshua didn't push back. He understood where Javier was coming from. After all, if his own daughter had been pushed to the brink of death multiple times, he too wouldn't want the man responsible anywhere near her.

Yet, despite understanding, the pain in Joshua's heart was relentless. The past few days had been utterly draining. First, they had to pull Allison back from the edge, and now his father was caught up in trouble.

Chris had managed to throw their lives into complete chaos, turning the Fisher family upside down.

After a brief exchange with Javier,

Joshua turned and walked away. Before he even got to Ben's room, he could hear a heated argument fromnoveldrama

down the hallway. It sounded like Rose was in the middle of a dispute with someone.

Quickening his pace, Joshua rounded the corner and arrived at Ben's room. From afar, he had only caught Rose's voice, but now the argument was clear, and Ben's frail, weak voice reached his ears.

Ben said, "Why are you stopping me? Living like this is worse than dying; I'm going to die soon anyway."

Rose cried, "Have you thought about Mom, Dad, and Joshua? How are they supposed to cope if you just give up?"

"What difference does it make?" Ben's voice was hoarse and strained, rising slightly, "The doctor said I have at most a month left. Whether it's sooner or later, I'm going to die!"

Rose sobbed, "But a month is still time! Every extra day matters."

Ben's voice was thick with emotion, sounding utterly defeated. "Living like this is torture. Every night, I wake up in pain. The painkillers and shots never stop. My hair's falling out in clumps, and I can't even eat. What's the point of living like this?'d rather die! Every day I wake up, pm counting down the days. I'm so tired of this life. Just let me go. Dying is easier than living."
