Chapter 1702
"Who exactly are you?" Gerald asked, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Looking back, he regretted diving into this mess; it was like asking for trouble with open arms. Gerald wasn't an idiot, but he had definitely downplayed the
intricacies of the Stonnell family. Their influence in the States was no joke, and constantly playing second fiddle to Jackson had driven him to seek out desperate solutions.
Now, here he was, caught in the crossfire of Fiona's anger.
"You'll find out soon enough. Where's Jackson?" Fiona demanded, crossing her arms and fixing Gerald with a steely gaze.
If Gerald was tangled in this, Jackson would likely be safe, which gave her a sliver of comfort.
"You're too young and naive, thinking everything will fall into place as you want. I'm only here because I struck a deal with the Stonnell family. But I'm not the one gunning for Jackson."
Fiona straightened up, her brow furrowing. "What do you mean? Who else is in on this?"
Gerald kept his mouth shut, knowing Fiona could connect the dots herself. Plus, with Jackson's life hanging in the balance, there wasn't much else he could do.
"They're on the seventh floor. From the fifth floor up, the whole complex is locked down. Only their people can get in."
Fiona snatched Gerald's gun, giving him a cold, hard look. "I hope you're telling the truth, and I hope you're not mixed up in this. Otherwise, I won't spare you or your family."
With determination, Fiona made a beeline for the fifth floor. It was the weakest link in their defenses, and she swiftly dealt with the guards there. She kicked open the door and strode in. The fifth and sixth floors were deserted, but faint voices drifted down from the seventh.
None of the voices belonged to Jackson, which was a relief.
The seventh floor was a different story. Fiona shot the lock open and stepped inside. There, she saw familiar faces.
The Stonnell family members!

Beside them stood several men she didn't recognize, probably from the Woods family.
Jackson was bound hand and foot, forced to kneel before them—a man of his stature reduced to such humiliation.
The sight tore at Fiona's heart. Dark red blood stained the floor; Jackson had been tortured mercilessly.

The intruders looked at Fiona in terror, and one of the Stonnell family members recognized her.
"You're Flora's daughter!"
Fiona raised an eyebrow, focusing her gaze on him, letting out a soft laugh. "Well, well, cousin. Long time no see."
During her childhood, this cousin had been a constant thorn in Fiona's side.
