Chapter 312
Hamilton managed a wry smile but ultimately remained silent.
After parting ways with Scarlett, it was only then that Hamilton lowered his gaze to speak with Natalia.
"Natalia, I won't let anything happen to you or our child."
Natalia's fingers clenched slightly, and it took her a moment before she responded.
"I know."
Hamilton had been fiercely protective of her lately.
Whether it was the Fowler family or the Powell family, he had managed to keep
them at bay, ensuring they didn't dare cross her.
"But as long as there's even the slightest risk, I'll still stand by my decision."
Hamilton laughed softly, choosing not to say more.
He thought to himself that perhaps what they needed was time.
No matter, he had patience in abundance.
Hamilton had arranged for a private doctor for Natalia.
After the check-up, the doctor cheerfully pointed out on the screen, "Here's the
head, and here's the little bum. Your baby looks very healthy."
Natalia, looking at the ultrasound image on the computer screen, felt a sudden sourness at the tip of her nose.
This was her child, connected to her by blood.
Her and Hamilton's child.
She thought to herself that she must bring this child into the world, healthy and strong.
"How about I print a copy for you?"
The doctor had been instructed not to keep any records of the check-up.
But she could see how much this lady cared about her child.
Natalia touched the screen softly, but eventually shook her head.
"No, that's okay."
The doctor frowned, about to say something, but Natalia had already thanked her and left.
Sighing, the doctor deleted all the records of the check-up, then replaced them with a diagnosis for irregular periods.
After Natalia and Hamilton had left, Delilah sneaked in.
"Doctor, what was that woman here for?"
The doctor frowned slightly, "I'm sorry, but we can't disclose patient information."
Delilah smiled, placing a card in front of the doctor.
"There's half a million in here. I just want to know what's wrong with her health.”
The doctor's eyes flickered, slowly pocketing the card.
Then she pulled up the records on her computer.
"Irregular periods."
Delilah sighed in relief at those words.
Only after Delilah had left did the doctor take out her phone and call Hamilton.
"Indeed, a lady was here, and she left a card with half a million. I did as you instructed."
Hamilton, driving, felt his expression darken gradually.
"I understand."
After hanging up, he took Natalia's hand.
"Natalia, how about we put work on hold for now, okay?"
Natalia paused, then laughed softly, "Has Delilah started to suspect, then?"
Hamilton was silent for a moment, "Just to be safe."
Natalia nodded, albeit with a hint of bitterness.
"Alright, I'll talk to Minister Dawson."
Natalia didn't have much luggage. Over the period of the check-up, Killian had already moved her things to Cloud Terrace.
Hamilton parked the car and took Natalia's hand in his.
"Natalia, what if I said I wanted to live with you?"
Natalia gave him a look, "Hamilton, being too close to me will only endanger me and the child. Don't you understand?"
Hamilton felt a dull ache in his chest, managing a bitter smile, "Then, what about just staying over occasionally?"
"No!"
After Natalia spoke, she opened the car door and got out.
Hamilton followed her into the building.
"I can't possibly let you stay in a hotel when I'm here, can I?"
Natalia glanced at him, "Doesn't Mr. Fowler have a place in Boria City?"
Hamilton raised an eyebrow, "I do, but I don't want to stay there."
Natalia pursed her lips, saying nothing more.
Once home, Hamilton's gaze flickered as he followed her inside.
Natalia intended to say something, but Hamilton started organizing things methodically - changing bed sheets, rearranging personal items - everything in places she was accustomed to.
Natalia watched him, her gaze eventually drifting away.
She had never imagined Hamilton doing these chores.
Back when they were together, this man hadn't lifted a finger.
By the time Hamilton had finished tidying up, it was already dark.
Natalia bit her lip, "I'll order some takeout; you can have something before you
go."
Unexpectedly, Hamilton shook his head.
"Not tonight, I have some
ements. I'll come by tomorrow to pick you up. Remember to lock the door, and call me if you need
anything."
After a brief kiss, Hamilton turned and left.
Natalia hadn't thought much of it until Hamilton was gone. Then, the room felt
eerily empty.
She stood motionless for a while before finally ordering delivery.
As the evening drew in, enticing scents of food occasionally wafted from the neighboring room.
Natalia decided to take a shower.
Just as she finished, the doorbell rang - her delivery had arrived.
In her pajamas, she went to open the door but froze in surprise.
The nanny stood there, beaming at her.
"Ms. Jenkins, we made too much food; would you like to join us? I made your favorite dishes and even
brought over Soho's Delights pastries from Silkwood City."
Natalia stared at the nanny, asking after a moment, "How did you get here?"
But the nanny just smiled, not answering, and pulled Natalia towards the next apartment.
Entering, Natalia saw Hamilton, freshly showered and in casual home clothes, setting the table.
Hamilton finished setting the table and walked over.noveldrama
"What are you guys doing here?"
Natalia looked at the man before her, suddenly at a loss for words.
Hamilton's fingers gently traced her eyebrow.
"How could I ever bear to leave you dining alone?"
What do you think?
