Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 943

Teddy burst out, "But why won't she acknowledge me? I've recognized her. Why won't she recognize me? She is Amelia, my Amelia. She's back; she's not dead."

Chloe walked in and noticed Teddy talking to himself.

"What's going on?" Chloe asked.

Connor let out a sigh, "Right after he left the airport today, he spotted someone who looked just like Amelia. He ran up to her, hugged her, and got slapped for his troubles, accused of harassment."

The executive, holding a glass, insisted, "She is Amelia. I can't be wrong. How could I be wrong? But why won't she acknowledge me?"

A flicker of doubt crossed Chloe's face. "But didn't Amelia pass away?"

Connor sighed again, his eyes clouded with guilt. "Yeah, back then, my sister hired a thug to set Amelia's place on fire. When we got there, all that was left was a charred body. The thug took the fall for it. All these years, Teddy's been helping me deal with my sister because she's the one who got Amelia killed."

Connor looked puzzled too. How could it be Amelia? The body was too burned to identify. But if Amelia were alive, it doesn't add up.

Connor figured Teddy must have mistaken someone else for Amelia. He'd done it before, but never with such conviction as today.

Chloe lingered in the room for a bit. She had something important to discuss with Connor about the Wolf Totem. She'd been turning it over in her mind for a while, struggling to believe it. There had to be more to it.

Connor already had his reservations

about her friend. If she told him, he'd likely stop her from staying at QUEEN, and he wouldn't let her. friend continue the acupuncture treatments. But only her friend knew how to do it.

Despite her inner conflict, Chloe decided she had to come clean to Connor. This wasn't something small. If her friend was indeed tied to the forces behind Suzanne, as Connor suspected, things were way too complicated, and they were all in danger. She couldn't keep something this big from Connor.

Seeing Teddy's state, Chloe decided to wait and tell Connor later. Teddy kept drinking until late into the night. Eventually, Connor had to take him back to the office. He picked a few reliable people to keep an eye on Teddy, then got ready to drive home. Chloe stayed by his side the whole time.

Seeing Chloe dozing off in the passenger seat, Connor felt a pang of sympathy. He took her hand and said, "I'm sorry for putting you through this today."

Chloe hadn't really been put out; she'd just waited a bit. She'd always considered Teddy a friend. Connor's actions seemed right to her.

On the way back, Connor suddenly said, "You mentioned earlier that you had something important to tell me. What was it?"noveldrama

Chloe paused, looking puzzled. "Did I say that?"

Connor nodded, "Don't you remember? You said you had something important to tell me tonight."

Chloe genuinely couldn't recall. She scratched her head, "I don't remember." She really couldn't remember. She vaguely sensed there was something, but the details just wouldn't come to her.
