Chapter 934
In front of him, she had to keep her cool and stay sharp. He didn't want to pile more worries onto Connor. But when it came to Grant, she couldn't help feeling a bit self-centered. Chloe let all her troubles spill out at once.
"Hey, I need to find the mentor, maybe he can help," she said. "I can't bear to lose this baby. I've carried him for five months, been with him day and night, and I feel him with me every moment."
"I'm really down. Why does life have to be so hard on me? Haven't I been through enough already?" Chloe lamented. "My life's like some over-the-top soap opera. I wish I could ask the scriptwriter if this is really necessary. What did I do to deserve this?"
Chloe felt a deep sense of injustice. She wasn't one to blame others or fate. Even after facing betrayals from family, friends, and love, she had eventually made peace with herself and her destiny. But she couldn't understand why she kept facing one challenge after another.
Grant was poring over the reports, his face growing more serious by the minute. He never saw this coming. If he had, he wouldn't have let Chloe stay by Connor's side.
After a while, Grant finally spoke up, "Chloe, I won't let anything happen to you. No matter what, I promise you'll be safe." His voice was firm, "I'll find the mentor. He'll know what to do."
Chloe felt a little relief after getting everything off her chest, and Grant's
confidence gave her some comfort. Ever since she was young, she had always trusted Grant. He never let her down.
After Chloe left, Grant sat alone in his office for quite a while until his assistant came in to remind him that Connor was still waiting in the conference room. Grant finally got up and headed over.
Once inside, he closed the door and said, "I know what you're going to say. I'm already on it. I'll do everything I can to find the mentor and see if he can help Chloe. Don't worry about asking me; I'm doing this because Chloe means the world to me too."
Connor looked at Grant with intensity. In the past, he might've seen those words as a challenge, but now, they were his hope.
"I trust you, so thanks," Connor replied.
Grant shot back, "Don't thank me. I'm not doing this for you." He paused, then added, “I regret not taking her away from you back then."
Connor's expression darkened. "Right now, I don't care what you think. I just want my wife to be safe."
Grant's voice was edged with frustration, you care so much, why risk it? My mentor isn't a miracle worker. With so many cases before, why bet on a one percent chance? If I were in your shoes, I'd let go of this child without question. Nothing's more important than Chloe's life."
Connor was quiet for a momentnoveldrama
what I wanted to discuss. If your mentor can't help, I hope you can persuade her to let go of this child."

Grant was taken aback. After a pause, he said, "Well, at least you've got some sense. I thought you were more concerned about the Sartori family name."
Grant continued, "Let's wait to see my mentor first."
That evening, Grant headed back to Rooster Hill Villa. Rooster Hill used to be a cemetery and was deserted for years. A few years back, Grant built a villa estate there, with the rear of the property leading to the old burial grounds. There were plenty of stories about those graves on Rooster Hill...
