Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 191

Janice gently tugged on Edward's hand. "Why the long face?"

Edward raised an eyebrow. "My girlfriend is severely injured. Should I be smiling?"

She asked, "Who did it?"

"Heidi hired someone, but Amelia gave the order."

The two of them were in cahoots.

Janice lowered her gaze as she quietly started formulating a plan.

Just then, Barbara walked in. "Ed, Calvin is looking for you. I'll stay with Janice. Go on."

He turned to Janice first. "I'll be back soon."

"Okay."

...

Robert was also in Calvin's hospital ward. His secretary was standing guard at the door, allowing no one to peek inside.

As Edward entered, he asked, "What's going on?"

"It was Heidi, wasn't it?" Calvin knew because the Ryan family had already called him to apologize.

Robert had kept his distance, but that didn't mean he didn't have an opinion. He wasn't the type to let something like this slide.

"You told them to dissolve their company and barred them from operating in Greenfield City?" he asked.

Edward met his gaze. "Are you here to stop me?"

"No." Robert said, "I just want to know your next move."

Edward and Calvin understood the subtext. If Edward wanted to take things further, Robert wouldn't just stand by and watch.

"I won't do anything for the time being," Edward replied.

Heidi had lost the full function of her finger. And with Amelia in the picture, there was no way to get Heidi locked up for life. Since he couldn't eliminate the problem, Edward wouldn't act rashly.

Robert warned, "Handle it as you see fit. But remember, people like her tend to get desperate when backed into a corner. Don't let this spiral into something irreversible."noveldrama

Desperate? Heidi was exactly that. Otherwise, how could an ordinary person have the guts to be an accomplice to an attempted hit-and-run?

"I know."

Edward had sent someone to follow Heidi round-the-clock. He knew exactly where she went and who she met.

The doorbell rang at Fitzgerald

Residence. As the door swung open, the two women-one standing

inside a

and the other outside-found themselves face-to-face. Both were equally stunned.

Elsie's eyes widened when she saw Amelia. "What are you doing here?"

Amelia, on the other hand, stared in shock. "Why are you here?"

Then, her gaze fell on the shawl draped over Elsie's shoulders. It was this year's latest design. Amelia had wanted that shawl and even asked Simon for it, but he never bought it for her.

But now, Elsie was lounging around in home clothes at his place. It was obvious she had spent the night.

Elsie's initial unease quickly gave way to a smug smile. "Ms. Burnett, is there something I can help you with?"

Amelia had seen this play out before. She said coldly, "I'm here to see Simon."

"Oh, Simon?" Elsie casually ran a hand through her hair. "He should be in the shower. We're heading out soon. Want me to pass along a message?" "You..."

After leaving Stanmore Drive, Amelia had come straight here to find Simon. "What's wrong, Elsie?"

Simon's gentle voice sounded from behind.

Elsie immediately turned and slipped her arm through his. "Ms. Burnett is here."

Amelia?

His expression darkened. "What are you doing here?"

Amelia's heart skipped a beat. She never expected Simon to move on so quickly-and with Elsie, of all people. She wasn't even worthy of playing Amelia's handmaid when they were kids. en
