Chapter 1481
Gazing at Waverly, Wyatt's eyes widened in surprise. "Is this going to work? What if he sends it over again? Hurry up and delete his contact!"
"Play graft. We're not in a hurry to delete it! I chose the person in his contact list he has frequently contacted in the last ten days!"
As soon as Waverly's voice faded away, the footsteps became clearer. The door of the room was pushed open almost at the same time she pressed the Enter button. The whole process took place merely in a blink of an eye.
When the group of police broke in, such a scene entered their sight. On one side, Trevor accompanied Victoria as she focused on painting. On the sofa, Wyatt sat side by side with Waverly. The two seemed to be watching a movie, just like two couples enjoying their alone time. Barging into the room, they were shocked silly by the scene in front of them. Not witnessing the panic scene he had anticipated, the leading officer turned to shoot a glance behind him without realizing it.
Turning around, Trevor pretended to be shocked before he shouted in wrath upon returning to his senses, "What are you doing? I can sue you for trespassing private territory!"
"My apologies! We received a report that drug trafficking and drugs are hidden here! We were ordered to carry out a thorough search!"
"Oh?"
Sweeping his indifferent gaze past the group, Trevor took a step forward and shielded Victoria behind him, saying, "Are you kidding me? We're not doing anything illegal! Where is the search warrant?"
"This... The search warrant is in an application. It will be issued soon!"
"What gives you the right to act all arrogant without a search warrant? Get out of here!"
With a roar, Trevor eyed his men. Once again, Holger led his men forward to prevent the group from taking another step into the room. "Everyone, please!"
Right then, Mr. Harris, who had disappeared for a brief while, popped his head out from the crowd. "Officer Lawson, you can't leave! If you don't enter the room right now, and the evidence is destroyed, how will you give credit to my contributions?" "Officer Lawson, what I said is true. I took the drugs from him. This place! I swear to God. There is not a single lie! Although he masked his face, I could recognize his eyes. Whether it's black or this color, it's this pair of eyes. I couldn't have made a mistake!"
"Officer Lawson, hurry up!"
"Officer Lawson, we can't just wait! I received the goods. There must be other stocks stored in the room!"
"See, I've just transferred the money over..."
As the man anxiously made a fuss, Wyatt stole a glance at Trevor as he pondered on, "Indeed, this man's here for Wyatt, isn't he? Whose nerve did he get onto? That should not be it! Things are pretty calm these days!"
Could it be news of the formula that leaked out?
That didn't make sense!
All Trevor did was accidentally pick up the formula. Strictly speaking, it did not harm anyone's interests. Even if the other party learned about it and wanted to retrieve it, that was not the way to do so!
That person was trying to sentence him to death!
The powder probably weighed more than 20 grams. If it was found, it would not be a problem to sentence him to more than 10 years imprisonment!
While Wyatt was deep in thought, Trevor's eyes darkened. It was then he recalled how ostentatious he found Mr. Harris to be a boastful person. It was that he boasted without considering its consequences. In the usual sense, the wealthier one was, the more careful one would be whenever it came to investments. How could one casually decide to invest a billion without analyzing its returns? Even if the main idea was to support celebrities, one would still pay attention to the gains and losses unless one was a fool.
After a brief conversation, he found Mr. Harries unreliable. He had decided to give it a second thought, but he didn't expect Mr. Harris to disappear after he had left for the washroom for a brief while.
When he received the news that Mr. Harris had left alone, he could vaguely sense that something was amiss! After calling Mr. McGowan, the one that had introduced Mr. Harris to him, and learning about the ongoing situation, it was only then he knew that Mr. Harris took the initiative to come asking for him with money ready. Mr. Harris had expressed his intention to invest in the drama. Seeing how generous Mr. Harris was and had taken the initiative to invest, Mr. McGowan decided to speak up for Mr. Harris. Almost at the same time, someone found traces of drugs in the guest room, so he ordered all the private rooms to be checked. All strange objects found were destroyed at once.
The most unexpected move was the packet of drugs in his private room, which was a restricted area. He couldn't understand how others had sneaked into his room and tried framing him, but it was evident that it was the underlying plot. The rest of the traces of drugs were most probably baits aimed to distract his attention! As the thought crossed his mind, Trevor understood that they were targeting him. All at once, he darted a cold glare over.
"Mr. Harris, you're drunk, aren't you? Didn't you ask me out for a drink to discuss the cooperation in the production of a film which requires an investment of one billion dollars? It seems this is the first time we've met today. Shall I play the recording of our conversation? Drug? Ha ha."noveldrama
After a cold sneer, Trevor went on to say.
"Are you kidding me? Why would I give up on producing a film to sell drugs? How many tons of drugs would I have to sell to earn 8 billion? Do you take me as a fool or everyone else here as well?" "That's... That's not true! It's just a cover!" Apparently, Mr. Harris was flustered. Anxiously, grabbing onto the police officer's clothes, he hurriedly chimed in.
"Officer Lawson, don't listen to his nonsense. He's playing a trick to stall for time! You're well aware of how profitable such businesses are! He might have been less involved in the past, but everyone understands how the entertainment industry is in the lows this year. The taxes charged on them is at least a few billion dollars. They must be short of money, so they're using films as their money laundering method! Officer Lawson..."
"Those in the entertainment circle who got famous were all under immense stress! Most of them are addicts!"
"How could there be no one supplying drugs? He's...the supplier! He's in control! He needs it!"
Yawning, the man seemed to start hallucinating from the side effects as he began to speak intermittently, "Trust me! I won't lie since I'm waiting for my credits... Check his phone. There's a record!"
What an addict!
In an instant, Trevor came to realize that the person who had set up the trap not only spent a hefty sum of money on drugs but had also hired a crazy drug addict. With verbal and solid proof, everything was complete.
"It's all empty talk. You should be responsible for what you say! I can sue you for slander!"
Both sides did not give in to each other. Officer Lawson was obviously indecisive as he checked his mobile phone twice. Since Mr. Harris was constantly urging him, he gritted his teeth to say.
"Mr. Trevor, I'm sorry if I've offended you in any way! Search the place!"
Trevor's face darkened as he subconsciously stole another look at the police officer. As he wondered why Officer Lawson dared search the place without a search warrant although the two of them were acquainted, he raised his gaze to notice a reporter taking pictures. It was then he immediately understood that the person behind the scenes not only did not give him a way out, but he did not give the police a choice as well.
"You can search the place, but please be careful. Don't break my stuff. The
furniture is expensive. Don't frighten my men as well!"
Turning around, he motioned to Victoria by deliberately patting her little hand before his worried gaze landed on her.
If it was found out, she would be doomed! She hid the drug in her paintings, which meant that she bore all the responsibilities. Since they had no idea whether all the drugs could be dissolved in the fluid in such a short period, everything would be targeted at her if something were to go wrong!
Everyone was assigned to search different areas. Mr. Harris obviously had some experience. As soon as he entered the door, he anxiously shouted.
"Hey, check the toilet. If it's flushed, we may not be able to detect the drug if it's too late!"
His heart skipped a beat. If they hadn't been in a hurry, and the bathroom was somewhat far from them, the best way to handle the situation would definitely have been to flush the drug off with water!
After all, the suspect could only be confirmed with enough evidence. Without solid proof, there was room for change!
Trevor was somewhat glad about how smart and alert Victoria had been.
On the other side, Wyatt didn't say a word as he instinctively wrapped his arms around Waverly to protect her.
Soon, the inspectors and searchers emerged from the washroom one after another. "Officer Lawson, nothing is found!"
"Everything is normal!"
Before Officer Lawson could say anything, Mr. Harris' anxious voice rang out.
"How is this possible? Impossible! I can smell the drug. There must be some around! Look, I've paid for it. Give me my stuff. Give me my stuff!"
As he shouted, the man wanted to come forward. Taking the opportunity to unplug the phone from the charger, Waverly handed it to Wyatt and eyed him, who then passed the mobile phone to Trevor.
"Your phone's charged!"
Later, he mouthed some important information. Nodding in response, Trevor
turned on his mobile phone and looked at it before saying.
"Mr. Harris, are you joking? I didn't receive anything."
While speaking, he showed the mobile phone screen to everyone.
"It seems that I've just added you and didn't receive any information from you! You don't think I'm free enough to delete all the chat records with you, do you?"
"No, it's impossible!"
Withdrawing his mobile phone, Mr. Harris tried sending another online transfer slip over. The phone screen indicated that the transaction was successful, but strangely, Trevor's mobile phone opposite him was silent and blank. Not only him, but Officer Lawson sensed something fishy as well.
"What's going on?"
Trevor slowly intercepted.
"Oh, I forgot to tell all of you that my mobile phone has security protection that will automatically block information containing viruses! Mr. Harris, your mobile phone doesn't seem to be safe, or should I say, you deliberately did this to frame me?"
"Don't talk nonsense! Why would I give you money to frame you? How
is that possible? Officer Lawson, don't listen to him blabbering nonsense. You can investigate. He must have received my money! The drugs must have been destroyed. Since there are no traces of drugs in the bathroom, the water, the
painting, it's in the water!"
The man's random pointing instantly shifted everyone's attention to the painting
rack, followed by which Trevor's face instantly darkened.
"How long are you going to spurt nonsense? Why don't you say that it's in my fish tank and flowerpot? Why don't you say that it's in the air?
I think you must be hallucinating from taking too many drugs, aren't
you?! Officer Lawson, can you believe this delirious person's words? You've searched my place
and my people. Are you allowing this madman to continue to create trouble till no end?!"
What do you think?
